Our portfolio company is a solid, medium-sized logistics and freight forwarding company with over 30 years of experience in international transport, especially in the fields of air, sea, and land freight, express logistics, and project transports. The main location is Munich Airport with additional branches in Landshut and an international office in the United Kingdom. You will initially take responsibility for building and managing our site in Manchester. Subsequently, you will expand your remit to the regions of Coningsby and Hull, where you will especially establish and manage a dedicated processing department for incoming shipments from Europe. In the long term, you will develop into the central leadership figure of the company in the UK and gradually take over key responsibilities of the previous management.

YOUR ROLE:

  • Providing team support and guidance in matters of accounting, HR, legislation, compliance, H&S
  • Supporting customers, suppliers, and various transport providers as in-house service providers and acting as main point of contact
  • Collaborate company-internally with cross-functional departments
  • Recruitment & interviewing, HR management (recognizing problems beforehand)
  • Supervise accounts booking, payroll, accounts receivable and payable
  • Check and follow through with financial policies and procedures
  • Financial Reporting, Audits
  • Observing and analysing developments, trends, and industry and team dynamics
  • Checking and cooling of operational procedures, looking for pitfalls before they happen, thus preventing mistakes and operational issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, shippers as well as service providers to ensure seamless logistics operations and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Monitor performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of logistics strategies and make recommendations for improvements
  •  Liaise with external accountants and external auditors
  • Controlling of bank accounts, bank transfers, tax payments, customs deferent account credit cards, staff expenses, payroll and general overhead spending, and general accounts payable
  •  Controlling of logistics spendng, invoice accuracy, and accounts receivable
  • Check and ensure compliance within corporate environment, following new legislation

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Exceptional customer service is essential
  •  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and administration is essential
  • Excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail are essential
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks effectively is essential
  • Flexibility to meet the requirements of the logistics sector is essential
  •  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for liaising with various stakeholders
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly is essential
  • An understanding of freight processes and import/export regulations is essential; knowledge of shipping and receiving processes is preferred
  •  Familiarity with transportation management is advantageous
  • Customs knowledge of CDS & NCTS, including T1, T2 is of advantage
  • Working knowledge with XERO is of advantage
  • You will be required to prove a complete and gapless work/education history
  • You must have the right to work in the UK with no unspent criminal convictions
  • Valid UK or EU-NATO Passport
  • Enhanced DBS and further security checks must be passed
  • A Level or degree
  • Full & clean UK driving licence (2 years min)
