AUCTUS half-year report 2022
Dear friends and business partners of AUCTUS,
2022 will be one of the most challenging years in the last twenty years. Rarely in post-war history has there been such an accumulation of uncertainties and risks. In addition to coronavirus and the war in Ukraine, our lives are dominated by inflation, material and personnel shortages and rising interest rates.
However, times of great risk are also associated with attractive opportunities. On the one hand, we can already see that an intensive exchange with our entrepreneurs and courageous, bold measures are allowing our portfolio to grow significantly faster than the market as a whole. Secondly, as the market leader, we benefit from being a ‘safe haven’ and were able to enter into a record number of 25 new company investments in the first half of 2022.
AUCTUS stands with Ukraine
Immediately after the start of the war in Ukraine, there was a real wave of aid measures from the AUCTUS portfolio companies, which really moved us:
- Hundreds of Ukrainians were picked up at the Polish border in chartered buses
- Shipments of relief supplies including clothing, food, medicines, cell phones, batteries, laptops, etc. were sent to Ukraine
- Six-figure donations in cash and in kind were made by the companies
- A large number of Ukrainian refugees were accommodated free of charge, school lessons were organized for the children, support was provided in dealing with the authorities and much more.
- Most of the families of our companies’ employees working in Ukraine were brought to Germany
2 beautiful exits
The year has started very well and we were able to sell two companies, Aakamp and adviqo, which have developed very well in the years in which AUCTUS has been involved.
3 new platform companies
In the first half of the year, AUCTUS V has three new platform investments in exciting new sectors. We are looking forward to these prospects of success:
Horst Pöppel Spedition GmbH & Co KG – Horst Pöppel is a Regensburg-based, regionally leading specialist logistics company in southern and eastern Germany and has been working closely with almost all leading mineral oil brands for decades. HP specializes in the transport of mineral oil fuels, AdBlue and other products in this segment.
a1-envirosciences GmbH – a1 is the European specialist for laboratory containment systems and specialized laboratory analyzers with headquarters in Düsseldorf. Areas of application include the chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, food, medical, petrochemical and recycling industries as well as environmental research.
PPM Industries SpA / Adhesive Tapes Holding GmbH – PPM is a leading global manufacturer of adhesive tapes with headquarters in the

After having to do without many personal contacts among colleagues in recent years due to Corona, we have made a special effort to put together a memorable AUCTUS team weekend. We had a great few days together in Mallorca and talked, laughed and ate an incredible amount, especially on a personal level; but it was equally valuable to use the constructiveness of an informal atmosphere to talk about strategic issues and needs.
We were also pleased to get to know our 5 new colleagues who will be joining the AUCTUS deal team this summer or who have started their portfolio year and will enrich our deal team in the coming year.
We are now carrying this positive spirit into the second half of the year and will achieve many more successes by the end of the year in order to further strengthen our portfolio and make it crisis-proof.
